Description

A still mouse pointer disappears while in the neighborhood selection screen, the neighborhood, CAS, and/or on a lot. When the mouse is moved, the cursor will flicker and flash into visibility at a random pace, and/or cause box trails.

Possible Solution #1

If you have an nVidia graphics card, this problem might surface when your hardware acceleration is tweaked down.

- Go into Display Options by right-clicking on the desktop and choosing Properties.
- Select the Settings tab and click the Advanced button. Another window will open.
- Select the Troubleshooting tab, and you should see a slider for Hardware Acceleration.
- Set the slider to the far-right, which is Maximum, then click Apply or OK. You screen should go black for a moment.

Now try playing The Sims 2, and see if your mouse pointer continues to flicker and flash.

FYI: if you begin to experience any graphic distortion with the windows XP skin graphics, such as whenever you hover over buttons, or the taskbar looks choppy, this is likely due to your Hardware Acceleration being on maximum. Therefor, you may want to adjust the hardware acceleration back and forth between regular PC usage, and the sims 2 playtime.
