jQuery Lightbox now available!

Hi All,

I've finally gotted around to doing some changes here. These are as follows:

- The Lightbox image viewer that is on MTS is now also on here. This provides an easy to use method of viewing pictures.
- A new Help forum section has been added, with subforums for TS2 and TS3. Please put your Adult related game help questions there.
- WCIF has been removed from the Discussions menu
- A new Help menu has been added, which contains all of the FAQs and tutorials that are on MTS, along with the WCIF section
- The Information part of the News menu has been moved to the Site menu

I hope you like the changes. I would also like to ask if everybody here would like to see the "Tabbed" download pages (as seen on MTS) on this site too? Let me know.

Regards,
Delphy

Sims 3 downloads

You might have noticed that Sims 3 downloads are now available here. To get to them you can click on the Sims 3 logo in the little "Switch To" box on the right hand side of the download browser pages. To switch back to TS2, just click on the TS2 logo on the TS3 pages. :)

SXS2 Helpers Wanted - applications close 7th December

Hi All,

You may not be aware, but SXS2 is staffed with all unpaid volunteers. SXS2's staff is not paid for their work except in good feelings and hugs. This is not a job for us, but a hobby.

But because we are all unpaid volunteers means that we also have real lives outside of the site - families, day jobs, school, and other obligations. As much as we would love to spend 24 hours a day working on improving the site, we sometimes need to do other things like eat, sleep, and work, and spend time with our families.

Recently, many of our moderators have needed to spend more time on non-site related stuff like the above. While we still have enough staff to cover the basics like the moderation queue, checking reports, and dealing with issues, there are many other areas that we wish were more fleshed out, but need more warm bodies to help with.

We know that among a user base of so many thousands, with generally around 100-200 users online at any one time, there are probably many intelligent people who spend a lot of time on the site who may have the time and inclination to help out. So, we would like to see who may be available to give us a hand with certain things.

If you are an active member who would like to help on SXS2, please fill out the following questionnaire/application and post your answers as a reply to this thread:

1. How long have you been a member at SXS2? You can check your join date on your profile.

2. How much time do you spend on SXS2, MTS2, S2C, or Sims2Wiki per day? Per week?

3. Where are you located on the globe? Country only is fine - we don't need your home address. ;)

4. What areas of the sites do you frequent the most?

5. What technical skills do you have, if any? Please list anything that may be applicable - this can include Sims 2 modding knowledge, graphics design, HTML/Wikipedia or other wikis/CSS/PHP, or anything like that.

6. What other sites do you frequent, and why? Are you an uploader, affiliated with, or staff for any other Sims 2 sites?

7. What do you think is the main focus and purpose of SXS2? What is this site for?

8. What is your age, gender, and occupation?

9. Boyshorts, thongs, or bikini bottoms?

Posts on this thread which are not questions directly relating to the subject of this thread or answering the questionnaire will be deleted without reply.

If all you do is download and are not really interested in helping, please do not reply to this thread. We are only looking for users who are established members who have skills that would be useful in helping out.

Please note that this is not an "apply to become SXS2 staff" thread! This is for a general helper thing, not staff. Users who are made SXS2 staff are those who have proven through their actions that they are helpful, active, and will fit in well with existing staff. You cannot apply to become SXS2 staff anywhere.

We will review any applications made here and will be contacting those we see as viable candidates shortly to discuss different options on where they would be the most helpful. Thank you! :)

Regards,
Delphy

Site Suggestions - State of the site - Where do you want to go from here?

Hi All,

Today I'd like to cover some ideas for the site, my thoughts, and generally get your input on how you think it's going, and where you want to go.

Historically, SXS2 was split off from MTS2 for the Adult orientated items including classical paintings and things of that nature. We've added some forums here and there, but generally it seems kind of quiet, and I'd like to change that. I know there is a huge amount of people out there either not liking the PG-13 ratings of other sites, or wanting to download quality adult content, or generally play the game how you want it to be played with as many adult related items as you wish.

What I've noticed very recently has been a kind of stagnation in terms of uploads as well as general forum usage. I know that partially this is becuase the Sims 2 as a game is 4 years old, but MTS2 still has an average of 80+ items in it's queue on any given day, and here it just seems to be a heck of a lot less, even though there is obviously a large number of people browsing and generally downloading.

As downloaders, you may have noticed a decrease in the number of available downloads. This is covered in the other site news "My stuff got tagged? Why!".

What I want to concentrate here is not the quality of downloads, but a general feeling on where you want the site to go. What kind of sections do you want to see? Would you prefer it setup more like MTS2? (Which we have started doing) or another way? Which forums get used a lot, and which don't? Are there areas you would like to see expanded? Are there any features you want to see that don't already exist?

I'd like to turn this seeming downturn around and make this one of the premier sites not just for adult content but also for discussion as MTS2 is for the "regular" game and S2C is for "regular" discussion.

So, if you have any thoughts, feelings, comments - please post here. Try and keep them positive - it serves nobodies purpose to say "This site sux! You sux!". After all, you guys and girls are the ones that use the site day to day, so your input is valuable.

Thanks for reading and for using SXS2! I'll try and do my best to reply to any specific comments or questions.

Regards
Delphy

My stuff got tagged? Why!

Hi All,

Yesterday (4th April) I went through the downloads section here on SXS2 and did some "cleaning up", which included reorganising things and generally pruning stuff off. During this cleanup, I tagged a lot of downloads which I felt needed it (more on that in a bit).

Unfortunately, the tagging system has no ability to say why an item was tagged - It is usually up to the creator to look at the specific items in question to see why - this is done in conjunction with the creator guidelines and any relevant site news items etc.

If you have an item that was tagged you need to look in the Creator Issues forum (found under Site Map at the top). You'll see all your threads there.

Please check each of them and see if they had:
- No ingame screenshots at all
- Bad quality screenshots (taken from 3 miles away or similar as was the case for the majority of paintings)
- Screenshots or images that are impossible to see (I saw many that where simply washed out or extremely dark)
- Pixellated or blurry screenshots taken on low quality
- Pictures of porn stars etc on walls and floors that do not tile and where essentially just pictures and served no real purpose
- Pictures of porn stars where it's just a picture stuck in a painting with absolutely no effort and is something that anybody could do in 2 mins with the Wizards of SimPE.
- Missing or broken screenshots or files
- Bad quality textured clothing, alphas etc (bucket filled texturing, blurry or pixellated, detailing only in bump maps)
- Sims in poses that did not show off the clothes you are trying to showcase
- Extremely high polygon body shapes or meshes (this includes body shapes that are totally impossible - blimps for breasts is bad, mkay?)
- Downloads that made me go "wtf is this?"
- Probably some other stuff I am forgetting

If so, then they where probably tagged.

If you would like a specific reason for a specific thread being tagged, post on the thread about it - do not post here or in site issues. If we see the thread creator as the last poster on tagged threads, then it's much easier to answer and reply. While a thread is in Creator Issues, it may only be seen by Staff and by the thread creator.

To be honest, the amount of downloads tagged was quite hefty - primarily becuase this site has not been held to the same quality standards as MTS2 has, nor has the download sections been under moderation until very recently.

MTS2 has always strived to have the best quality downloads, and looking through SXS2 has always made me go "Oh dear..." at the apparent lack of quality (this is a general observation here, nor am I targetting anybody specific). I am not a prude, and enjoy porn and nudity as much as the next guy, but I would like to see this site be a quality resource for the more "adult" items just as MTS2 is for the PG13 stuff.

Rest assured your work was not the only things tagged - and you probably aren't going to be the only one complaining. If your work was tagged then look and think about why it was - is it up to quality? Does it have a good enough description? What about screenshots? Is the texturing good? Is it not just another PictureInAPainting?

What I would like people to do is to read the Creator Guidelines on MTS2 - these are much more up to date than the ones here on SXS2. Pay specific attention to quality and type of screenshots, texturing (especially important for clothing) and just general "Is this likely to be approved?" quality.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who has uploaded - it may seem like a "slap in the face" to get something tagged, but rest assured, it's nothing specific - it's just that things needed cleaning up and I hope you will all work forward to make this the premier download site for adult orientated content for the Sims 2.

Finally, I'd like to add - we realise this may come as a shock to a lot of you, but it is in the best interests of the site to do clean ups and to review and act on quality rules from time to time. This is just one of those times. :) If you feel that you where picked on, singled out, or otherwise post only to complain, please read this post again and think about why something was specifically tagged.

Regards
Delphy

PS If you would like a specific reason for a specific thread being tagged, post on the thread about it - do not post here or in site issues.

PPS Posts here that ask about specific threads being tagged or complaining about the tagging will be deleted for failure to read. :)
